SwathMap

What SwathMap does today

Everything on this page is in the app now, except the last list, which is planned and isn't ready yet. No dates on that list: things move to "Included today" when they ship, and the changelog says when.

Included today in the app now Not yet planned, not ready

Upload

Included today

Straight from the SD card, in the browser, with nothing to install.

  • Photos or a whole folder, from the browser

Drop in the flight's photos or its folder. The upload runs in the background while the SwathMap page stays open, and each map's card shows its progress.

  • Up to 50 fields at once

Upload a full day of flights. They queue for your processing lane and start in turn.

  • A few lost photos won't sink the map

If a handful of photos fail to upload, the map still finishes, with up to 2% of the photos missing.

  • Several fields in one upload

Flew three fields on one battery set? Fields that are far apart in one upload are split, processed side by side and delivered together.

  • Edges-only maps

When you only need the boundary, map a strip along the field's edge, reaching 50, 100 or 200 ft either side of the boundary. Use the field as flown, a saved boundary, or a boundary file (KML, KMZ, shapefile or GeoJSON). SwathMap picks the edge photos before uploading, so there's less to send and less to process. Same price as any map.

  • Maps filed by customer

Give each map a name and assign it to a customer.

Processing

Included today

In the cloud, with the numbers published on the processing times page.

  • Processing in the cloud

No workstation to buy or keep up. A full map typically takes 4.4 minutes of processing for every 100 photos.

  • One priority processing lane

Your first map goes ahead of every customer's extra maps; more run at once when there's spare capacity. Add lanes if your crews map all day.

  • Full detail, set by how you fly

Maps are made at the detail your photos carry, up to 0.8 in per pixel. Fly lower for more detail.

  • Bad frames left out

Photos tilted away from straight down are filtered out before they can smear the map.

  • RTK positions used

If your drone writes RTK-corrected positions into its photos, SwathMap uses them as recorded.

  • A quality check on every map

Each map is checked for holes before it's delivered, and a step that fails is retried automatically.

The map

Included today

Open it in the browser, look closer, and take it with you.

  • Smooth zoom to full detail

The finished map opens over a satellite basemap and zooms smoothly from the whole farm down to the crop rows.

  • Vegetation layers from an ordinary photo map

Build VARI, GLI, ExG, TGI and green-cover layers from any map in a few minutes, with point values and area statistics.

  • Multispectral maps from the DJI Mavic 3M

NDVI, NDRE, GNDVI, LCI and green cover, plus a false-color overlay on the photo map. Included in the plan.

  • Download the map

Take the finished map as a GeoTIFF that GIS and farm software can open.

  • Measure

Measure distances right on the map.

Field tools

Included today

Mark up the field the way your drone reads it. Shapes are planning aids, not a survey: check obstacles in the field before you fly.

  • Boundary with live acres

Click the corners and watch the acres add up. Drag a corner to adjust it.

  • Obstacles, as polygons or circles

Tree islands and buildings as polygons; poles, pivot points and single trees as circles.

  • No-spray zones

Buffers along creeks, wells and neighbors' crops, kept separate from obstacles because controllers treat them differently.

  • Notes for the crew

Drop a note where it matters: "wet spot, spray last".

  • Undo, redo and keyboard shortcuts

Every edit can be taken back, and the drawing tools each have a one-key shortcut.

  • Saved boundaries

Save a boundary to the customer and use it again, for example to drive an edges-only map of the same field.

  • Zones and prescription maps

Split a field into 2 to 7 zones from a vegetation layer, set a rate for each, leave out obstacles and no-spray zones, and export the result as a shapefile or KMZ.

Exports

Included today

A brand is listed only after its file has loaded on a real controller. We don't guarantee a file will load on every controller or app version.

  • DJI Agras boundary

A shapefile for the remote controller's microSD card. It loads and flies on a real Agras. No-spray zones and notes stay on the map: Agras doesn't import no-spray areas.

  • EAVision boundary

The field boundary as a KMZ, imported through EAVision's portal. Tested on a real EAVision drone. Keep one field per file, with no holes in the boundary: EAVision flies holes as erratic paths.

  • Ceres boundary

The field boundary as a KMZ, imported at Applicator View, which sends it to the drone. Tested on a real Ceres drone. Keep one field per file, with no holes in the boundary.

  • Shapefile and KMZ for everything else

Boundaries and zones as a shapefile zip or a Google Earth KMZ, for GIS, farm software or your records.

  • A boundary that crosses itself is caught

If an outline folds over itself, the export says so and waits for the fix instead of handing you a file a controller would reject.

Your account and your data

Included today

One plan, and plain rules about what's kept.

  • Add capacity yourself

Add 1 TB storage packs or extra processing lanes from the plan page, and see lanes in use, maps in progress and storage used at a glance.

  • Your photos are deleted after 72 hours

Original photos are kept while the map processes and deleted 72 hours after it's finished. The map is what you keep, so keep your own copy of the SD card if you need the raw photos.

  • One copy of each map

We keep one copy of your maps. Download anything you can't afford to lose.

  • Leaving is simple

Cancel any time; your access runs to the end of the term you paid for. Your maps stay downloadable for 30 days after that, then they're deleted.

Not yet

Not yet

Planned, not ready. When one ships, it moves up this page and into the changelog. Need one of these for your operation? Tell us.

  • Click a field to outline it

Click inside a field and SwathMap draws its outline, snapped to where the crop stops.

  • A field library

Each customer's fields in one place, with their saved boundaries.

  • Boundary files for XAG and Hylio

Added one brand at a time, each after its file loads on a real controller.

  • Prescription files for DJI Agras

Zones and rates written the way an Agras reads them.

  • Checks before export, brand by brand

Each controller's own rules run before the download, so a problem shows up at the desk instead of in the field.

  • Import a boundary into the drawing tools

Start the drawing from a boundary file you already have. Today a boundary file can drive an edges-only map.

  • Export all your maps at once

One download for everything in your account.

  • An email when your map is ready

Today the map's card shows when it's done.

  • A link to share a map with your grower

A view-only link, no account needed.

  • A winter pause

Keep your maps through the off-season with processing turned off.

  • Send fields straight to a Ceres drone

No download and no import step.

  • Plan the mapping flight from a boundary

Draw or import the boundary, get the flight.

  • Maps from more than 2,400 photos

Today one map takes up to 2,400 photos; split a bigger block into two maps.

  • More drones and cameras, tested

SwathMap is tested on DJI's 20 MP mapping drones and the Mavic 3M. Photos from other drones should work too, and we'll list them as we test them. Tell us what you fly.

Map your next field before you spray it.

Create an account and try the drawing tools on a sample map, then subscribe and upload your own flight. A 500-photo flight typically takes about 22 minutes to process. Questions first? Ask, and you'll get an answer from a person on the SwathMap team.
